THE BONELESS GUIDES

Moving a boneless couch & keeping sections together

Plan for the expanded furniture and use the connection system the maker intended.

Measure each full-size piece and check handling instructions before moving it. Do not assume a household vacuum can recreate factory compression.

Plan the route

Measure the expanded modules, doorways and stair turns. Check the weight of each piece and arrange suitable help. Protect fabric from dragging or sharp edges, following the manufacturer’s handling guidance.

Keep connectors and small components together. Photograph the layout before separating pieces so reassembly is straightforward.

If the sections slide

Check that the supplied connections are engaged correctly and that the layout is approved. Ask the manufacturer about floor compatibility and any recommended non-slip solution.

Do not drill into or permanently modify a foam couch based on general advice. A modification can damage the product or affect a warranty.

Can you vacuum-seal it again?

Factory shipping uses equipment and packaging that may not be practical at home. Obtain specific instructions from the manufacturer before trying to recompress the sofa.

For a return, ask the seller how an expanded item must be packed and who arranges transport. Resolve this before assuming that the original box will be usable again.
